ComfortDelGro have been having rather a rough time of late. First there was the introduction of Uber and then the expansion of Grab which left the cities blue and yellow cabs in rather a sorry, unwanted position in a market taken over with ease and fare reductions.
While many of the taxis have indeed signed up to the various ride hailing schemes under new initiative, the company have devised a way to try and claw back some of that lost income.
Signing a deal with Moove Media, over 3000 taxis’ will be fitted with 10-inch screens which will then start to play ads once a new travellers journey has started. Once the initial ad has finished, passengers can then choose to watch more, similar content, or just enjoy their ride in silence. Provided by Mediacorp and SPH TV, the ads will take their focus across different segments ranging from beauty, food, entertainment etc. Brands already signed up to the initiative include Burger King, Clarityn and PingTung Country Government Information and Tourism Department.
Speaking of the new venture, Moove Media CEO, Jayne Quek said: “The in-taxi entertainment screen is an extension of what we can do in providing a useful platform to engage taxi passengers for a good 15 to 20 minutes in a captive environment. It is a great way for advertisers to tell their stories and connect with the audience during their journey.”
