Help Keep Local Theatre Alive: The W!ld Rice Ball
Help support Singapore’s theatrical talent.
“From the very beginning, our mission has been to tell Singaporean stories,” says Glen Goei, co-artistic director of W!ld Rice. Likewise, that’s exactly what the local theatre company plans do at its annual fundraising gala, Rice Ball, now in its 16th edition.
Happening on 6 October 2017 at Shangri-La Hotel, Once Upon A Time: The W!ld Rice Ball promises a night of fantasy, magic and wonder. All funds raised from the evening’s festivities will go directly towards supporting the company’s artistic and educational programming.
Hosted by Pam Oei, the evening will see concert performances by Sean Ghazi, Andrew Marko, Cheryl Tan, Rishi Budhrani, Sharul Channa and the Thomson Big Band.
Ivan Heng, founding artistic director of W!ld Rice, said: “In this economic downturn, when raising funds for the arts can be especially challenging, the Rice Ball is a critical lifeline for us. The funds raised will enable us to plan for the future with confidence, as we do the work we have always done — staging quality productions and nurturing future generations of artists and audiences.”
The company’s mission to build a theatre culture extends to the wider community through a project that nurtures young talents from the ages of five to 12; and a separate division that identifies and develops Singapore’s young theatre professionals.
