From filming fitness videos to relaxing with her friends, we walk you through a week in the life of the very busy, super energetic, Lisa Clayton, Founder of UFIT Bootcamps.
Today, I am focused on making sure the boys schedule is organised as I am working three full days of shooting fitness videos this week. I am also prepping my workout and putting together the activewear I have been given for the shoots. I love that now my days are really so varied, I am not built for a 9-5 routine at all. The first thing I do in the morning is a NZ Fulvic Shot, drink some water and then it’s time for coffee - I’m literally obsessed! Its how I start my day every single day. Then its feeding time at the zoo- the boys are pretty good at getting their own breakfast now but there are plenty of reminders to get dressed, clean up and we are leaving in five minutes! I then drive my three boys to school at 8.30am, then usually workout but today I’ve got tonnes of errands and am going to do a lunch time class instead to make sure Ive got everything done in the morning I need to. I wanted to not go too hard because of the numerous workout Ive got coming up, but at CrossFit Tanjong Pagar its a little hard to hold back. Lunch is planning what’s for dinner for the family, and then I catch up with a friend and run a gazillion errands. It’s a busy day!
Post-lunch I need to head home to chill and answer emails before I get the boys from school at 3.30pm. We swim in the pool in the afternoon and it’s a beautiful day outside. I wrap up the day wit a massage tonight to be in good stead for the videos! I am feeling a little sore and tired from my MET CON class!
Today, I am focused on the shoot - I’m slightly nervous but I love a challenge. Luckily I had a great night’s sleep so am feeling really good. I have to be there early so I’ve skipped the usual morning routine.
I know I need to eat for the day ahead so I make myself a big fluffy omelette and an extra strong coffee. I’ve got so much stuff to pack and take with me so a few rounds to the car is needed. We shoot until 6pm and I am knackered but energised- I’ve loved it! I’ve done about five full workouts today - I don’t know how I got through it but every workout was different and I loved surprising myself with extra energy as the day went on. I really feel like I have the perfect job! I even got a seven month old to plank! The daughter of my colleague came to visit and after crawling around for a while whilst I was planking, she came right up and proceeded to copy, and boom in 3 stages was up holding a plank! After work, I picked up the boys from their play date and even though I am tired my bestie is here from London and I must see her! I promised myself no wine, but I really felt like I deserved a couple of glasses! My friends are so important to me, I rarely will have a reason or excuse not to go out. I love the balance and making the most out of every day.
Day two of shooting and wow, I am SORE! I wonder how on earth I will do a squat today but the guys get out all their toys for myofacial release and we spend a good 30 mins releasing and stretching. I'm not going to lie, it hurt but it certainly works and soon enough, I was back to it! Six or seven workouts were shot today, I really can't believe we did so much, but luckily I am still loving it and feeling so much more comfortable than the day before. I am definitely more mentally exhausted today and want to make sure that we finish earlier - a night on the couch is needed! I wrote on my instagram how much I'd love to be teleported somewhere for a massage and Sole House messaged me and offered to come over the following evening for a 90min at home full body massage. HALLELULAH! That will be the perfect end to day three of shooting, all with a glass or two of champagne, of course. I head home and chill with the family, my husband is travelling the following day so we need to catch up and organise the weekend. I'm happy to get to bed early for a good nights sleep and am looking forward to the final day of shooting tomorrow.
As much as I've loved it, I am looking forward to getting some day time back and to see the boys as we do day three. To get me prepped for the shoot, I am rolled all over the legs to release the lactic acid build up and tension before I start the first workout. I've had a bit of a dilemna though as I accidentally left my husbands passport in the car and he needs it for travel so we are trying to troubleshoot that. We work it out, passport is on its way and we can begin! We had to reshoot some stuff from day one because the camera angle needed to be changed. Success, they look better than day one which is the ultimate outcome to make them look as good as they can. We're all happy with what we have done and we wrap up the shoot at 3pm and open a bottle of champagne to celebrate! A mandatory group pic and a boomarang video of course to capture the moment! I have casting to go straight to now in the city for a job for Singapore Air, so I quickly change into a bankers outfit, quite a different feel to active wear and head to the city before heading home and being greeted by SoleHouse Massage service at home for a 90min deep body massage. It's so good. My boys come in for a chat during the massage which is ok as I have really missed them. I feel like a new woman after the massage so I put the boys to bed and I head out to meet two friends for dinner at an old fave Italian joint, Pietre Sante. My friend is returning to london the next day so there is lots to catch up on! Some aperols later, I'm tucked into bed having the best sleep!
I assumed I was going to wake up and be sore all over but I'm not, I have no soreness thankfully. It's back to the usual drop kids off to school routine and after that, I head to my favourite indoor boxing community for a good one hour punch. I've been craving boxing all week and definitely want a day off squats, lunges and pushups! Then, I head home to do some work on my fitness retreat in Bali that I have coming in up a couple of weeks called Chickfitreat, and then I realise I am supposed to be at lunch in 45mins and I have a quick meeting before! Like a bull in a china shop I race through the house getting ready. Its typical of me to leave the house with wet hair, and today is one of those days but it starts raining, so a good outcome! I meet someone in regards to a luxury yacht he wants help promoting from SG Yacht Charters and we agree on a date to throw a party which is great news. Now, onto a farewell lunch at The CookHouse in Dempsey, I love this place and we have a great day, staying until the dinner crew arrive. My husband even pops in for a drink on the way home. Later that evening, my friend is fighting in a boxing match so I go along to see her and support her...and she wins!!! Follow Lisa Clayton on Instagram at @lisaclayton77
