If rumours are true, then the ride hailing app will be getting a major investor soon.

Another week, another set of rumours about two of South East Asia's largest, and most interesting, firms - Alibaba and Grab.

Fresh from their Uber South East Asia take over and subsequent mergers fine, Grab are back in the headlines with rumours that retail giants Alibaba are interested in partnering with their payment and ride hailing app.

Valued last year at $6 Billion, Grab is one of Asia's most recent success stories which is why it could be that Jack Ma's giant of Alibaba wanted to meet with them last Summer to talk through investment opportunities. While no-one is sure what came out of those meetings, fresh rumours have emerged that the two giants are looking for ways to partner yet again. One idea being floated is with the recent launch of GoJek, Grab needs a fresh round of funding to fight out this emerging rival, and few have the spending power to help as Alibaba.
